EYE SURGERY DRIVE Community Service

EYE SURGERY DRIVE

Today, Rotarian Smita Parikh and Raj Parikh sponsored a cataract surgery camp in association with Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City. This camp is organized by Red Cross Society at Ram Manohar Lohiya Hospital in Baghbera. In this camp, underprivileged persons needing cataract surgery are treated absolutely free of cost. As per our understanding, imported lens is used in every surgery and with their new OT, this service is provided with care and dignity. With contributions from Red Cross & Lohiya Trust for every camp, the patrons have to contribute 71000/- for sponsoring the camp on their special day or in memory of their lives ones. These camps are held every week with beneficiaries ranging from 15-50 per camp. Day 1 is screening, Day 2 is surgery, Day 3 is checkup and discharge. Give the gift of sight.

TRICYCLE DISTRIBUTION

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City donated tricycles to 2 underprivileged persons in Azad Nagar, Mango under their Divyaang Project. The beneficiaries Md Abrar Alam & Md Imteyaaz are both victims of Polio and very needy. They have been moving around with much difficulty till now and were very thankful for receiving the tricycles which will help them with basic mobility.These beneficiaries were identified by Human Welfare Trust which is a very active social organization of Azad Nagar. The handing over ceremony was organized by Human Welfare Trust under the leadership of Mr Mukhtar Khan. Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City was represented by President Rtn Krishna Kumar Kharia and Secretary Rtn Jitesh Kumar and Rtn Udit Agarwal played an important role in the project. The event was attended by many senior members of the society.

Wheel Chair Distribution

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City donated a wheelchair to a very needy household. The direct beneficiary was a 90 year old partially paralyzed person, Mr. Clarance Gregary, a resident of Shastrinagar, Kadma. He has lost his son and daughter-in-law and lives with only his unmarried daughter. Since his paralysis attack 6 months ago, he has not been able to move out of his bed and room. His wife too is old and unwell. The household barely survives with rafoo work done by the 55 year old daughter. Our wheelchair donation has helped them to move him around. He was grateful for our gesture due to which he could get out of his bed and room after 6 months. They intend to use it for both husband and wife.

AAROGYA MELA 2026

Shrimad Rajchandra Aatma Tatva Research Center - Jamshedpur Center in association with Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City & Team Aarogyamm, successfully implemented the Mega Health Check-up Camp "Aarogya Mela 2026" in the premises of Narbheram Hansraj School. The Health camp witnessed the participation of 550+ beneficiaries. Many of our members took the opportunity to get their home and office staffs health checkup done at the camp.The beneficiaries first gave their blood samples for a detailed blood test, they were then served wholesome breakfast. An OPD was arranged with General Physicians and renowned specialists from across the city related to more than 12 disciplines, like orthopaedics, dermatology, ENT, Cardiology, Dentistry, Neurology etc. Through our eye, we also distributed reading glasses free of cost to the needy.

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City and KSCESC conducted the first session of a unique career counselling dualogue focussed around jobs of the future - Futurescape 2035.It was attended by around 200 students of Std XI of Kerala Public School, Burmamines. The voluntary loud applause by the students at the end of the 2 hour interactive session was testament to their appreciation of the unique content. Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City distributed 125 blankets to needy persons in Jorsya village in Patamda Block. We were greeted by the Gram Pradhan and seniors of the village. Our team distributed blankets donated by our generous members, to the needy persons in the village which will help them battle the chilling winter this year. Rotarylets who accompanied us, played Santa to the kids distributing chocolates and biscuits among them. We also donated a junior cricket set to the school there, which excited the children. We have promised to help the school with some of their needs.

Today, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City conducted a successful Cyclathon 3.0 - Cycle for a Cause.Over 120 enthusiasts participated, and rode with Pride in support of needy Persons with Disabilities. starts the Cyclathon under the leadership of Mr Satbir Singh. The Cyclathon was flagged off by our Chief Guest, Dr Mandar Shah, renowned cardiologist. A big shout out to Gaurav and Savak for all the planning and execution of this event. The session started with the lighting of the lamp and the Welcome Speech by Mr Nakul Kamani, President, NHES. The session was conducted by Educator Ms Prathma Bose of Rotaract Club of Green City. It was a very interactive session and much appreciated by all. The Chief Guest, Dr Vinita Singh, GM - Medical Services, Tata Main Hospital invited our team to conduct this session in all rural schools under Tata Steel. She applauded the fact that male students were also part of the audience which truly marks the beginning of an impactful social campaign.

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City in association with School of Hope, celebrated Childrens Day with the special children of the school. The School of Hope is run by the Jamshedpur Society for the Welfare of Mentally Challenged Children. Partner Leena Adesara is the Director and she with her team are doing great service to the students. On the occasion of Childrens Day, our members arranged for a workshop on making recycled paper from waste newspaper and also made colourful tattoos on their hands. POLIO WALKATHON

The Rotary Clubs of Jamshedpur such as Main, West, Steel City, GenX, Dalma, Femina, and Rotary Green came together in a remarkable display of unity and purpose to celebrate World Polio Day 2025. A Polio Awareness Walkathon was organized with the enthusiastic participation of over 250 Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interactors. Participants walked from the Rotary Clock Tower – Voltas Building – Rotary Clock Tower, covering approximately 3 km in 45 minutes, celebrating India’s success in becoming polio-free while spreading awareness to ensure continued vigilance against the disease. It was a moment of pride and inspiration as presidents, secretaries, and Rotarians of all ages walked shoulder to shoulder on a pleasant Sunday morning, carrying the message of a polio-free India. The energetic participation of the youth wings — Interactors and Rotaractors — added enthusiasm and vitality to the event.

Swasthya kawach health checkup camp

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City and Jamshedpur Police launched a joint initiative - Swaasthya Kawach at Police Hospital in Sakchi, . On this day initiative was initiated through a Mega Health Checkup Camp. The camp was inaugurated by SSP Shri Piyush Pandey and leading cardiologist of the town Dr Mandar Shah from TMH. All basic checks like BMI, BP, Blood Sugar were done for all the attendees by Aarogyamm Team. General Physicians, Surgeon, Pediatrician, Gynaecologist were present at the camp. Cardiologist, Pulmonologist and Dermatologist from TMH, Eye checkup team of Trinetram and Dental Check-up team of Cosmodent were present at the camp. The entire team of specialists was arranged by Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City. Generic medicines from Jan Aushadhi Kendra, Sakchi were also distributed free of cost , sponsored by Rajsmita sevashray trust Today 214 police officers and their family members got consultation at the camp.

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City in association with Sahyog, celebrated Dinkar Jayanti through a poetry recital competition of the works of National Poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar. The session began with the National Anthem and all guests paid tribute to Padma Bhusha awardee, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar by Garlanding and offering flowers to his image. Mr. Anshuman Bhagat, an acclaimed writer, was the Chief Guest for the day. Hindi Literature enthusiast and Patron of Sahyog, Dr. Ragini Bhushan, introduced the poet and the competition. Close to 20 participants came on stage and recited the great poetries of Shri Ramdhari Singh Dinkar.This was not just a tribute to the great poet but also a forum to imbibe our history, art, culture while promoting our national language among the new generation.

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City conducted an awareness session on zoral Hygiene for all the students of Shree SS Gujrati Medium School in Bistupur, Jamshedpur. Navjat kit distribution

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City distributed Navjat kits consisting of a plate, glass, spoon and baby blanket to the family of all the newborns at Satya Sai Trust Sanjeevani Hospital. The best thing about the hospital is that there is no billing counter at the hospital meaning that all patients are treated absolutely free of cost. Only the needy patients are treated here after screening. Through this project, we would like to support these families while reaching Rotary to the homes of the beneficiaries through our branded utensils and blanket as a public image exercise. 25 kits were handed over to the hospital for distribution.

On 29/7/25, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City completed the installation of Water cooler with purifier at the Gamharia Block Office in Gamharia. We intend to work closely with BDO Gamharia Block for some of our projects. This facility will help provide clean drinking water to all the residents who visit the office and the officers of the Block office. As part of the Area of Focus, Environment, Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City launched a series of talks on Sustainable Living practices titled "The Green Dialogues" in partnership with Radiocity 91.1 FM. As part of this initiative, we will have one chat session every month on different topics related to simple sustainable living practices that we should all follow to save Plant Earth. We launched this series "The Green Dialogues", on the occasion of World Nature Conservation Day which is being aired today on Radiocity 91.1 FM. Our Sustainability champion Partner Nalin Goel has curated this series and will be the voice of our Club in The Green Dialogues. This will also act as a monthly Public Image exercise.

Our first Financial Literacy session for School Students was conducted today in association with Yi, at our Interact School Kavyapta Global School. It was attended by over 100 students of Class 11 and 12. It was an interactive session conducted by the Yi Trainer, Vivek Debuka and the students participated well. Rtn Preeti Khara was instrumental in getting this session organized and Rtn Julie from Literacy team witnessed the session so that we can fine tune it even further. 8th of July the day we can’t forget forever. For this I want to thank RTN Nikita mehta and rtn leena adesara. They had given us an opportunity to put a smile on the faces of blessed children. We arranged a screening of the movie SITARE ZAMEEN PAR in association with PJP cinema for the students of SCHOOL OF HOPE. There were 65 students and their parents with whom we watched the movie and witnessed their enthusiasm and happiness, which was truly heart warming. A very satisfying project that was. With a target of 2500 trees this year we started with 50 nos of trees plantation at CRPF Camp . – thanks to Dept Commandment Mr Mohinis for allowing and arranging the place for plantation

Blood Donation Camp

Two parallel Blood Donation Camps were organized on 1-July-2025 at Red Cross Bhawan, Sakchi and Netaji Subhas University, Mango. The camps were supported by the Jamshedpur Blood Bank team and active Rotaractors of Green City, Steel City, Social Crew & Arka Jain University. A total of 148 units of blood were collected. Each donor was given a certificate, a donor badge and snack packets. The camps were sponsored by our Charter member Rtn S N Thakur through his company Jharkhand Grind-Chem Pvt Ltd.
